says... Comcast Sucks

Comcast Personal Web Pages Suck

Comcast Personal Web Pages Suck because they won't forward traffic from your old website on your previous provider, in my case Insightbb.com to your new comcast personal web page. That Sucks! You would think with the amount of money they charge each month for their somewhat unreliable services they could offer this simple feature. They could use some of the money they are obviously not spending on customer support to take care of this. that would make Comcast Personal Web Pages Suck less.

You'd think for the money your spending you could get PHP support. I will say that Insightbb.com didn't offer this either. Not to mention basic things like htaccess files.

Comcast Personal Web Pages Suck because in this day in age with drive prices and sizes what they are the 1gb that Comcast Personal Web Pages come with is pretty limiting.

Comcast Customer Support Sucks

Comcast customer support is another long and sad story of it's own. Insightbb.com had pretty bad customer support and I was hoping that the move to comcast would bring an improvement in that area. Sadly exactly the opposite has happened for me.

One example that frustrated the hell out of me was the following. I had bought a new LCD TV and put it on the opposite wall of my living room from where my previous TV was. I have three cable outlets in the living room. Well, the one that I moved the TV to was not hot. At some point in the many service calls I had from Insight they had disconnected that one at the box on the outside of my house. While waiting to get a service call out on this I went outside and switched the output of the splitter (2 way) to go to the new TV. The only problem with this was that my bedroom TV was on the same line as the one in the living room that I disconnected.

I called comcast customer support and told them exactly what was wrong and that I need them to come out and switch their 2 way splitter for a 3 way splitter. I gave them my cell phone number since I would be at work in case the service technician needed to get ahold of me for anything. They said normally there would be a charge for this, but they would waive it since they are the ones that broke it in the first place. Now, I would think that would be a simple task that my kids could do without supervision. It's not like it is a complicated task or anything. The day of the appointment came, I go home from work to find the TV not working. I called comcast customer support and they told me that the tech had called and that no one was home he checked the signal and it was fine so he closed the ticket and left. I said what the hell? I told them specifically to call my cell phone since I would be at work. They responded with the usual we're sorry load of lies and re-scheduled it for tomorrow. I said be sure they call my cell.

The next day I get home from work and guess what, my TV still doesn't work. I called comcast customer support again and apparently they said that the tech was out yesterday and the signal was fine so they closed the ticket. WTF??? Ok, I'm getting just a little pissed now. The lady was very polite and offered to get it set up for the next day. So, she says what is the problem we need to fix? I said, don't you have it in your computer? I've called in to comcast customer support enough times about this there should be all kinds of information. She said there was NOTHING in the system about it at all. So I explained everything again. I said to make sure my cell phone number is in there as a contact. This is the kicker. She said all you need is a different splitter. If you want you can come by our office and pick one up for free and put it in yourself. Gee, wonder why the first comcast customer support person didn't come up with that? Their office is on the other side of town and at this point I wasn't going to let them out of a trip to my house. She was also going to give me a $25 credit for my troubles. I thought that was nice.

So the next day I get home and IT WORKS. Holy s***, it works. I can't ef'n believe they actually figured what needed to be done, came out to my house and actually fixed it.

You probably think everything is well and good now, right? wrong, it's not over yet!

I get my next bill and there is a charge of $25 for a service call. At some point I also got charged $25 instead of getting a credit for the $25 I was supposed to get. Good grief can comcast customer support do anything right? So I get on the phone again with comcast customer support and explain about the problem with the bill. The nice lady said she would credit my account for the $25 and my amount due was xx.xx. Cool, this is finally taken care of. Wrong again...

I bought the TV in December, it's now May and I don't think they have figured it out yet. I'm hoping that eventually I get this straightened out, but I think I'm hosed. I think the best thing is maybe to switch to a dish and DSL. I doubt the DSL is any slower than my cable modem.

I will be putting up a real site as soon as I have time. The old one was getting really dated anyway, the move to comcrap will speed up it's replacement.
